Flesh in Ecstasy: Gaston Lachaise and the Woman He Loved. 2009. USA. Directed by David Bagnall and George Stoney. Narrated by Stanley Tucci. Taking as its focus the casting of Gaston Lachaise's striking Standing Woman of 1932, the film explores the artist's relationship with his model for the work: his wife and muse, Isabel Dutaud Nagle. The film includes quotes from the sculptor's passionate love letters and scenes of the lost wax method casting process at the Modern Art Foundry in Queens, NY, as well as footage of the work’s installation at the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. In English, French with English subtitles.
